Hello to you and to me, as well, as this is my very first post EVER on this new blog!
I thought I may as well start with a book that isn't the best known, but among the teen readers it is a wonderful bit of fiction. Before I Fall, by Lauren Oliver.
This book came out roughly two years ago, a wonderful book that I managed to get an advanced reader's copy for. Honestly wonderful, and when I had met the author at my school the DAY OF its release, I had so much to discuss with Lauren Oliver.
For anyone who does not know, which is most likely many, this book is about a girl named Samantha Kingston who has to relive the very day she died SEVEN TIMES. Now this is not revealing anything that it does not say in the summary of the book, but be warned! I may mention a few details that could possibly be called spoilers.
Either way, Samantha Kingston spends her first repeated day in total denial, doing the exact same things with the same results, though her anxiety levels are high. Then there are days she does not die, and yet she still had to relive it all. You see, she needs to learn why she's dying, how to fix it, all while trying to live herself.
It is a great book for teens. There is a total change in character from Samantha being a thriving, charmed teen with the semi-perfect life to a teen quite genuinely happy with herself. There's drama enough, the one or two moments where you'll cry, and incredibly character development that will have you loving and hating them all appropriately.
It is an unexpectedly loved book in my opinion that I have quite honestly read three or so times now. Definitely something to read in school (if you are in school), a thick book to keep you thinking, and I personally enjoyed the creek where I used to live as I read, seated nicely under a tree.
Thank you for reading my blog and again, Before I Fall is a book to give a chance to.
